John FX Kennedy
His legal career began with service in the United States Marine Corps. While an active duty Marine, he served in Quantico, Virginia, Newport, Rhode Island, Okinawa, Japan and New River, North Carolina. He served as both a prosecutor and a trial defense counsel at court-martial proceedings. Upon completion of his active duty service in 1993, he returned to New Jersey and began his civil practice. While practicing in New Jersey, he continued serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. His reserve billets included: platoon commander, communications detachment; officer in charge maintenance detachment, Appellate Defense Counsel, Appellate Government Counsel. In 2007 he completed his service and retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel.
John graduated from Seton Hall University, Magna Cum Laude in 1986, received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989 and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar that year. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and has argued cases before that court on behalf of the United States Government.
